The Isle / Seom - Kim Ki-Duk - 2000 When a Korean guy decides to kill himself, it seems the right thing to do is go on a fishing holiday. The mute lady in charge, however, falls in love with him, and saves him from himself, but ends up commiting murder in the process. a beautiful setting a smooth colour palette a selection of strong/cute performances a totally uncessary set of extreme fish-hookings “Watching a man swallowing several fishing hooks, and then yanking on the wire, makes me feel kind of sick” - me ps. am I missing something, or does every korean film include a lot of prostitution?
