Goodbye Bafana - 2007 - Billie August
I confess! I chose to watch this film purely because it depicts Nelson Mandela.
In the same way I watched the crap that is “The Michael Jackson Story”, and even a bit of a biopic on Rosanne Barr.
Nelson Mandela is a figure of our times, the terrorist who became a global icon of peace.
But this film isn’t about Mandela. It’s an account of the life of James Gregory, his prison guard to Mandela. There’s much dispute over how true an account this is. But, truthfully, that doesn’t matter.
It’s a film about a man coming to realise that prejudice and racial segregation isn’t a good thing.
I liked it.
but don’t tell anyone else!
